Io Dagda

A kingdom that houses a mountain, underground forest, and a dockside that is full of crime. The magic here holds them together and the root of the tree continues their lives, as peaceful as possible.

⚰︎ Wyndameer

  • Land claimed under one kingdom, with forest stretching across the land underground.

  • The high altitude slows the cloud movement, ending up with thicker haze. Most mornings are covered in dew, even though there's a lack of actual rain across the land. Colder temperatures causing bitter winters.

    • Here you can find blizzards, avalanches, and mud slides depending on the day of the year.

  • Species mentioned, but not limited too:

    • Humans, and Fae.

⚰︎ RP Hooks

  • Lost tales of the unknown, not seen in ages, all the tales mention the below. With tunnels that are a labyrinth, rare findings sounding like rumors, and no tale having a straight answer to give. Adventurers are still trying to make out what lives on underneath their lands, to this day.

  • Those at the shore never sleep. Living their day and night lives with noise between ships, tavern, and business. Their questionably legal lives of plunder carry on, while avoiding the conflict of the other shores. With a boundless sea, and boundless life, ahead of them, the people of Banshee's Bay remain restless to make new discoveries, fortunes, and claimed friendships at any hour.

  • The knights patrolling Mt. Ayre are unwelcoming to any that stray too far off the rocky path. What they guard is well known by those native to the region, and they don't seem keen on sharing what that is with outsiders.

⚰︎ Solar System

  • Following their 1600s calendar, they use the same 365 calendar that we use in modern time today.

    • Standard 24hrs within a day.

  • One Sun, two Moons,

    • The Sun is smaller and hidden behind the haze. It burns blue, causing a blue tint during the day, and the sunsets are a blue, purple, and pink.

    • The Moons;

      • Little Brother: Average size of the standard moon. It appears to be battered, compared to the other.

      • Big Sister: Larger than the other, but further away, making an illusion that they're the same size of one another.

⚰︎ Mt. Ayre

  • Discovered by the Wyndameer Explorer's Guild while on a search for resources, this mountain was immediately claimed once an offshoot of the fabled Great Tree was found in its chasm.

  • The mountain was once an active volcano, but in the great world inversion when the previous great tree flipped the world inside out, its magma reserve went completely topside and cooled as a shell over an underground lake.

  • Thousands of years later between the ebb and flow of geological activity, the cavity of Mt. Ayre cracked open from the roots of the new great tree's expanse, and a sproutling emerged at the center of a small opening to that underground lake.

⚰︎ Mystrock Market

  • Around the base of Mt. Ayre and through a fortified portcullis is the Mystrock Market.

  • Well guarded by fortress walls, Mystrock Market is a lively plaza with open air markets and multi-story dwellings.

  • The usual fog that thickens over Wyndameer at night is lighter around the market due to the wind flow pattern.

  • Most of Mystrock Keep's citizens live in Mystrock Market due to the safety the walls provide.

  • It is rumored that when the sun sets, the spirits whisper at the sewer grate behind the Whining Wench tavern to lure in anyone who dares to wander too close.

⚰︎ Banshee's Bay

  • The port town where supplies are imported and exported at the behest of Mystrock Keep.

  • What started as a port town quickly devolved into haven for smugglers and miscreants who enjoyed the distance between Mystrock and the kingdom capitol.

  • An uneasy truce was made between the Baron of Mystrock Keep and the arising gangs of Banshee's Bay to keep the peace, but most feel it can end at any given moment.

⚰︎ Mystrock Keep

  • Built after the discovery and claiming of the Mt. Ayre region. This bastion serves as a defensive outpost to protect the Great Tree sproutling inside Mt. Ayre, and the settlement at the foothills.

  • One Baron oversees this section of Wyndameer, all of Mystrock Keep, it's market town, and Banshee Bay.

  • Soldiers of Mystrock Keep guard the entrance to the sproutling nestled in the mountain's hollow, though when the collision occurred, there were few of them left to patrol the area.

  • The first level of the Keep is open to visitors, and is often used for social gatherings.

    • People are often seen jumping the fence to the garden, which results in getting into trouble.

⚰︎ Aurun Amaya

  • This sub-terranean forest is alive with old wild magic, and rests in the core of Io Dagda.

  • The tunnels and passageways are fiercely guarded by the roots of the Great Tree, and the fae-kind dwelling below.

  • The great tree rooted in the ceiling of the world hollow is the descendant of the original Great Tree that pulled the world inside out to save all creatures from a violent world-wide eruption.

    • This new Great Tree was born with the essence of all Great Trees, all who are linked to a Great Tree may feel a connection to it.

Snapshot_109.png

⚰︎ Wailing Tunnels

  • The Catacomb tunnels beneath Banshee's Bay.

    • They were dug out beneath the foot hills of Mt. Ayre as a place to bury the dead, but the practice was abandoned after only a few short decades.

  • These eerie tunnels are prone to flooding, and are rumored to be severely haunted.

  • There are rumors of a hidden dungeon used by outlaws and corrupt guards alike, and whispers of a buried arena older than the Kingdom of Wyndameer itself.

⚰︎ Wyndameer

Prologue

[REDACTED] was a world taken over by their Great tree, and only after centuries passed into millennia, did the magma cool on the surface and life was able to grow once more.

Life grew on the surface again, the roots of the new All Tree spread. Some reached above the ground and matured into sproutlings, which were offshoots of the main tree containing its life sap and properties. Nature thrived around these hotspots of Great tree energy, and over the course of natural evolution, civilizations built their societies around them.

Wyndameer is one such society.

Out of desperation, the king ordered an expedition to find resources for his starving people besieged by illness. A seasoned explorer pushed well beyond the pale of no man's land, fighting beasts and treacherous terrain, losing some of his men to the elements and the wilds until they came upon a flat-topped mountain. Nestled in the hollow of its steep faces, they found a fabled sproutling and immediately claimed the territory under Wyndameer's rule. A fortress was erected at the top of what was later named Mt. Ayre, a robust farming community was formed, and medicines were made using the refined sap of the sproutling.

But there was something else under that mountain. A tunnel was discovered hidden under the vines and brush of the sproutling beneath Mt. Ayre, and an expedition was sent. It took the crew four days of walking through the winding tunnels and mapping them out before they reached the core and discovered the prime Great tree, and all the creatures it had been providing for in the span of thousands of years, many of which had evolved over that time to become like cave dwellers. The men were horrified and tried to blockade the tunnels as they ran from 'monsters' who had not initially acted towards them with aggression.

The more intelligent beings below such as the fae-kind were ecstatic upon learning that life was thriving above again, but any of them that might have breached the blockade or found another way out were met with prejudice and fear. Many were attacked on sight, which lead to skirmishes back and forth between the humans above and the fae kind below.

A tentative peace was eventually struck between the kingdom of Wyndameer and the mythics living in the core of the earth, but equality was never fully realized. Prejudice remained on both sides, but the one thing they could all agree to was maintaining the safety and health of the Great tree and all its sproutlings.
